On Maracas North Coast. This rural village is located on one of the highest points of the western area of the Northern Range--it peaks at 2,800 feet--and includes part of the Maraval area known for its expensive homes and golf course. It is a sprawling, steep, and mountainous village whose residents have traditionally been farmers, producing herbs such as chives, thyme, and parsley, as well as vegetables such as tomatoes and yams. Tomatoes are grown on almost vertical plots. To maneuver the route, most locals and visitors ride in jeeps, which turns out to be a lot of fun, especially with a stop on the way down at the Kool Breeze Bar.

Loved the video of the drive up the mountain switchbacks and the lilt of the driver's voice in the background. Looks like they drive wherever they want in the tropical paradise of Trinidad!
How fun and exciting to have a jeep ride in Trinidad. Reminded me of being a passenger in a taxi on St. Thomas years ago. I would look forward to relaxing at a place like Kool Breeze bar afterwards.
I love your video! It really encapsulates the experience of driving on back roads in the Caribbean. I would so love to see Trinidad. It looks a lot like Guadeloupe, which I fell in love with.
Paramin Village has great the view! And the Kool Breeze bar looks like a great place to stop.

ReplyDeleteI visited Trinidad a few years ago but didn't get to this area. It's a big island to explore and this would be an adventure!
