  1. Handy tips, Carole! I wish I could find a good insurance company to consider for long-stay trips. Once you stay longer than 2 weeks the price of premiums really jumps!

  2. This is a great resource. Thank you for putting it all together. I always buy insurance when I book a trip, but the thought of filing a claim (which I've haven't had to yet thankfully) worries me. I really do need to check into the special evacuation insurance too!

  3. This information is very timely as we're leaving for Europe soon. Hopefully since we aren't doing any travel by car, our risks of an accident will be diminished. My Medicare plan doesn't help with much coverage either.

  4. This is a very complete listing of coverage for travelers. My Medicare plan doesn't cover very well overseas either.

  5. Good information and a handy list of resources that I bookmarked. Currently we are carrying IMG (International Health Insurance) for our longterm travels outside the US. It has a high deductible ($5000) but it's a "just in case" plan. We've found that health care outside the US has exceeded our expectations while traveling and, so far, we've just paid as we go.

    1. Well said. Even with all this excellent information it is still not crystal clear which type of insurance is best. Wouldn't it be nice to have a trusted resource where you put in what you are doing, what your existing insurance is, etc., and out pops the answer to exactly what you need?
